Summer @ The Rock 2026.  Registration is now live.

The following camps are open to both male and female campers: Soccer, Swim & Dive, Art Camps, Computer Science Explorers, ESports, Future Scientist, HSPT Prep, Musical Theater, Photography, Robotics, and Study Skills. "Rising" as in "rising 8th grader" refers to a student about to begin 8th grade.

Some summer activities listed below (like credit courses and the Magis Academy) are available to high school students only.

  • Art Camp

    Summer Art Camp
    $175 includes all supplies

    5th-8th grade boys and girls
    Week 1: June 1st - June 4th, 1-3 pm
    Week 3: June 15th - June 18th, 1-3 pm
     
    Join us for a fun and inspiring Art Camp designed for students in 5th–8th grade, held daily from 1:00–3:00 PM! This camp focuses on creativity and self-expression as students explore drawing, painting, mixed media, and creative crafts. Campers will learn basic art techniques, experiment with a variety of materials, and develop their own artistic style and confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment. Each week features different projects and themes, so there’s always something new to create. Students will complete multiple finished art projects to take home while sharing ideas and getting inspired by other young artists. Sign up for one week or join us for both weeks for even more creative fun!

    Unleash your creativity at our Graphic Design Camp held daily from 9-11 am, designed especially for students in 5th–8th grade! Campers will explore the exciting world of visual design while learning how to turn ideas into eye-catching graphics. Through hands-on projects, students will create digital art, and more—just like real designers. No prior experience needed, just imagination and curiosity! This camp is perfect for students who love art and technology. Spots are limited to 10 students.

  • Computer Science Explorers

    July 6 - 10, 9AM - 12PM
    Rising 7th and 8th graders, boys and girls, $250

    In Rockhurst Computer Science Explorers, campers will learn the fundamentals of coding, computer hardware, cybersecurity, 3D printing, and ethical usage of AI through hands-on projects and guided instruction. The camp will emphasize responsible technology use and problem-solving skills, while also exploring careers in technology.

  • eSports

    Rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders, boys and girls, $250 per session

    Step into the exciting world of competitive Esports! Campers will rotate through four games the Rockhurst Esports program competes in: Overwatch 2, Rocket League, Marvel Rivals, and Super Smash Bros, while learning game strategy, skill development, teamwork, and communication skills. Instruction and mentorship will be provided by Rockhurst varsity players, including members of the 4th Place in State Rocket League team and Overwatch 2 Sectional Runner-up team. The camp concludes with organized tournaments for each game that let campers put their new skills into action!

    Note: Previous experience in these video games is not required. Consoles, PCs, and accessories will be provided by the camp. Campers are welcome to bring their own controllers, but are not required to. Rockhurst is not responsible for any personal items that are brought to the camp. Campers who damage Rockhurst-owned equipment may be held responsible for assisting with replacement.

  • Future Scientists

    For rising 6th - 8th Graders; boys and girls; $125 per session

    Session 1: June 1-4, 1pm - 3pm
    Session 2: June 8-11, 1pm - 3pm

    This two-hour camp is meant to introduce middle school students to the various types of science and have them experience each firsthand.  Students will experience exciting science demonstrations as well as learn how to ask important questions, leading to a deeper understanding.  Students will be able to complete their own experiments each day and learn how to collect data in a science lab, thus coming up with their own conclusions.  Different sciences will be emphasized each day, ranging from chemistry to earth science to zoology.

  • HSPT Prep

    For rising 8th Graders; boys and girls; $175 per session
    (open to rising 7th graders upon instructor approval)

    Focused on rising 8th grade boys and girls but open to rising 7th graders as well, this eight-day study helps students to build confidence with the HSPT and guides them to identify their test areas of strength and weakness in order for them to construct their improvement "path" to which they might commit in the remaining months prior to their test. This includes practicing multiple test questions, outlining resources available to assist them along their way, and building plans to share with parents. The cost includes participants keeping their individual test prep books, including additional practice exams.

  • Magis Academy

    For rising 9th Graders entering Rockhurst; $250 for one course, $400 for two courses, $500 for all three courses

    June 1st-June 26th, Monday-Friday, 8:00 - 11:30 a.m.  as dependent upon the number of courses being taken.   No classes June 19th.

    The Magis Academy has several objectives for its students, including their increased development of knowledge and skill in key academic areas, along with the opportunity to benefit from increased socialization among new peers and teachers.  While this resource is a required component from the Admissions Office for many entering freshmen, the program is available to other freshmen as well.

    --> Introduction to Algebra reinforces students' knowledge and skill in the basic components of algebra study.  (Click here for an example syllabus, though this is subject to change prior to each summer.)

    --> Introduction to English focuses on the grammar study that Rockhurst students complete as part of their freshman English curriculum.  Using the same online adaptive learning program freshmen use, students will practice applying concepts in proper sentence construction, mechanics, and phrasing until proficiency is achieved.  

    --> The Reading Skills Practicum course (also known as Reading Study) guides students towards reading for greater understanding, improved comprehension, and speed.  Considerable attention is given to distinguishing among levels of important portions of nonfiction writing, logic patterns of development, and how to create effective notes from reading studies.  Vocabulary skill development is also included.  The required English summer-reading novel for entering freshmen is also part of this summer course.

  • Musical Theater Camp

    June 15th - June 26th
    Monday - Friday, 9:00AM-2:00PM

    Join Rockhurst Theatre this summer for fun on the stage of the Rose Theatre! Over the course of this two week program, students will put on a camp production of a Broadway Jr Show! 

    Students will learn skills to help them perform, while also getting to take a peek at some technical elements that bring plays to life! We will conclude our camp with a performance of the show for family and friends to attend, June 26th at 2pm in the Rose Theatre.

  • Photography Camp

    Session I: June 1st - 4th; 1pm-4pm 
    Session II: June 8th - 11th; 1pm-4pm

    Capture summer through a new lens! In this fun and hands-on photography camp, students will learn how to take better photos using digital cameras while exploring creativity, storytelling, and visual thinking. Campers will experiment with lighting and composition as they photograph nature, objects, and people around them. 

    Students will discover how photographers use pictures to tell stories and express ideas. They'll also reflect on their work in a supportive, encouraging environment. 
     
    Equipment will be provided for the students. No prior photography experience is required--just curiosity and creativity!
     
    By the end of camp, students will build confidence behind the camera and create a small album of photos they're proud to take home and share.

  • PSAT Prep

    For rising 11th Graders; boys and girls; $270

    The PSAT prep course focuses on test specific English and Math skills. The course is designed for high-achieving rising juniors who have a chance at earning the National Merit Commended, National Merit Semi-Finalist, or National Merit Finalist designation. Participants keep their official PSAT prep book. The course is open to Rockhurst and non-Rockhurst students, male and female, and is taught by Rockhurst instructors Dr. Megan Caughron and Mr. Dan Shaver.

    ROBOTICS IQ Camp 
    For rising 3rd - 5th Graders; boys and girls; $180 per session

    Build the complete VEX IQ Clawbot from the ground up. Master fundamental robotics concepts and mechanisms. Program your robot using VEXcode blocks. Control motors, sensors, and autonomous behaviors. Problem-solve and debug like an engineer. 
     
    Every camper will receive a personalized Certificate of Accomplishment and a Camp T.

  • Study Skills

    For rising 7th, 8th, & 9th Graders; boys and girls; $150 per session

    The summer Study Skills camp offers students opportunities to evaluate current academic practices and develop new tools in order to achieve greater success in the classroom.  The course will focus on several study standards, which include Active Listening, Organization, Critical Reading, Notetaking and Test Preparation. The camp is offered to students entering the 7th-9th grade years.  A notebook is required for the course.

  • Summer Accelerated Algebra I

    Title: Accelerated Algebra 1

    This course is invite only.  Eligible participants should have received an email from the school's Registrar, Mrs. Jane Cory.  Financial assistance is available to qualified individuals by contacting Mr. Chris Bosco, Academic Summer Coordinator.

    Students who scored close to but below the Qualifying Exam threshold to test out of Algebra and begin Freshman year in Advanced Geometry/Algebra II are invited to take this 8-day Accelerated Algebra 1 Course. Students will rapidly master topics in the last six chapters of Algebra 1 in order to set them up for success in Advanced Geometry/ Algebra 2. Students must complete the 8-day course with a grade of 80% or higher in order to qualify for Advanced Geometry/Algebra 2. Otherwise, they will take Advanced Algebra 1 in the Fall.

    Registrants will receive an email prior to June regarding start-up information.

  • Summer Credit Courses

    A limited number of high school credit courses for young men and women run Monday through Friday, June 1 - June 26th. One course half-credit ($300) and one course full-credit ($500) courses most commonly available are in Chemistry, Intro to Computer Science, Biology, and several options in Mathematics.

    With the exception of Intro to Computer Science, these courses are for credit-recovery only after a student has failed a semester, unless approved by Chris Bosco, Summer Academic Director.

    Half-credit courses are 8am to 11am, and full-credit courses are 8am to noon.  

    Intro to Computer Science also has an afternoon session available from noon to 3pm.

    All courses are enrollment dependent.

  • Baseball

    All Skills Baseball Camp (for boys entering grades 1st thru 4th)

    This camp is designed for any skill level, from beginner to advanced. Join the Rockhurst Coaching staff and players for an exciting week of baseball. We will allow players to learn new skills, learn more about the game of baseball, challenge themselves, and have a lot of fun!

    All Skills Baseball Camp (for boys entering grades 5th thru 8th)

    This camp is designed for players entering 5th-8th grade. Join the Rockhurst coaching staff and players for an exciting week of baseball. Players will be coached on the defensive and offensive fundamentals of the game. Players will learn proper fielding technique, swing mechanics, and game play! Players will also have the opportunity to play games on the field and hit batting practice as a part of camp!

    Advanced Hitting Camps

    The Rockhurst Hitting Camp will provide players with the opportunity to get the maximum number of swings in while learning about the mechanics, timing, and mental side of hitting! Players will have the swing broken down and instructed to their individual levels and have the opportunity to use those skills in multiple hitting stations.

    Boys entering grades 1st thru 4th: 8:30 am to 10:00 am

    Rockhurst Incoming Freshman Baseball Camp

    This camp is specifically designed to prepare incoming Rockhurst freshmen for the spring tryout and practice process. Players will be introduced to the staff, practice at the same time as their daily routine in high school, be exposed to the tryout process, and experience what a daily practice is like at Rockhurst.

    **Camp will help prepare players for summer activities and tryouts in November.  
    **Players will be instructed on individual skill work, team concepts, as well as play 5-on-5 games.  Coaches will teach and review offensive and defensive plays that will be part of summer activities and help players prepare for high school tryouts.  This camp will resemble a Rockhurst Basketball practice.

    Rockhurst Summer Basketball League
    For rising RHS 9th Graders; $115

    The Rockhurst Summer Basketball League is for incoming freshmen and will occur on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the month of June, after the frosh camp. The cost is $115 for the whole month which includes 6 two hour sessions. The first hour will be focused on individual skill work, then the players will scrimmage for the remainder of the session. It is ok if a player has to miss some of the evenings due to other conflicts.

    ABOUT:       
    Runners will learn about the sport, proper warm-up, pacing, post-stretch and core work that has helped to guide the Hawklets to being one of the top XC programs in the area. Youth runners will be able to train alongside current high school runners and work with members of the Rockhurst Cross Country coaching staff. It is recommended that participants have done some distance running in their past, but campers will be grouped according to their reported current fitness level. 
     
    On Fridays, we will finish with an optional Ultimate Frisbee game after the camp for all who want to stay and play.

    The Goppert Rock-Plex is the home pool for Rockhurst Swim and Dive. It is a 6 lane pool with a workout facility attached along with a 1 meter springboard. Certified lifeguards will be present during the camp.

    54th Annual Football Youth Camp
    For rising 3rd - 8th Graders; $125 for the session

    Coach Donohoe has won 4 state championships and 3 runner-ups. He has a 221-65 overall record and was recently inducted into the Missouri State Hall of Fame and Coaches Association HOF. Coach Donohoe's teams have reached the state playoff 20 out of 24 seasons. He has been named Coach of the Year nationals and state-wide.  In 2023, the Rockhurst High School Football Program was inducted in the Missouri State Sports Hall of Fame.
     
    Coach Donohoe and his staff, along with varsity players, will teach a working knowledge of the fundamentals and methods in football.

    Boys will be placed in small groups according to their ability and age level. The camp will cover both offensive and defensive fundamentals with individual drills for each phase.

    Incoming Freshmen are encouraged to attend the 2nd session

    Coach Tim Reidy and his staff will teach players a working knowledge of the fundamentals and methods of lacrosse.
    Participants will be placed in small groups according to their ability and age level.  
               
    Camp will cover both offensive and defensive fundamentals with individual drills for each position including:  Catching, throwing, ground balls, shooting, rides & clears, offensive & defensive set plays and goal keeping.

    **Equipment is required for experienced players and campers entering grades 3-9. No equipment is needed for players entering grades K-2. A limited amount of equipment will be available for rent; contact Coach Reidy prior to June 1 for more information about rental gear.

    Camp & Academy
    Come train with the 10-time Missouri State High School Athletic Associate State Champion program.  In 2023 the Soccer Hawklets won their 3rd straight State Championship with an undefeated season and were named National Champions!

    For rising K - 8th Graders; boys and girls; $165 per session for half-day, $265 per session for full day.

    Advanced Soccer Camp
    For rising 6-8th grade boys; $165

    Campers will experience real high school level practices.  The RHS coaching staff will take campers through four days of what high school soccer practices are really like at Rockhurst.  The ideal camper will be playing on a competitive team currently and will hope to play at the competitive high school level in his future.

    For rising RHS 9th Graders; $165 

    Dates:          May 26 - 29 = 9am - 11am 
                         June 3, 10, 17, and 24 = 8-9am

    **Campers will be coached by the all members of the RHS soccer staff. Camp includes soccer drills, games, scrimmages, and a camp T-shirt. This camp will allow freshmen and sophomores to play together and get to know each other over the summer months while working on their soccer skills, knowledge, and conditioning.

    ABOUT:       
    Athletes will be trained in strength, agility, sprinting form, mobility, and core work so that they can take these exercises and learned skills and incorporate them into a consistent routine. These are many of the same training exercises that our Hawklets use to be able to excel at the highest levels of high school sports. 
     
    Limit per session is 50 campers

    Swim Camps
     
    Stroke & Turns Technique Camp I:  May 26 - May 29 (Tue-Fri), 12pm - 2pm 
    Rising 3rd - 5th graders, boys and girls.

    Swim Campers will work with Rockhurst swimmers and coaches on strokework and technique to help them develop new skills. Swimmers will learn new drills and work with various training tools. 

    Stroke & Turns Technique Camp II: May 26 - May 29 (Tue-Fri), 2pm - 4pm
    Rising 6th - 8th graders, boys and girls.

    These two camps will be capped at 15 swimmers each.

    Speed Camp: June 29 - July 2 (Mon-Thur), 2pm-4pm
    Rising 6th - 8th grade, boys and girls

    Swim Campers will work with Rockhurst swimmers and coaches to help them develop new skills. Swimmers will learn new drills and work with various training tools. Focus will also be given to speed and explosion.

    The Goppert Rock-Plex is the home pool for Rockhurst Swim and Dive. It is a 6 lane pool with a workout facility attached. Certified lifeguards will be present during the camp.

    TO BRING:  
    Towel, several pairs of goggles, and a water bottle. Swimmers can bring their own training equipment, but training equipment will be available for swimmers to use.

    Rockhurst High School Volleyball Camp

    Join the 4-Time Heart Of America (HOA) Boys Volleyball Champions and the 2023 Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) State Semifinalists and 2025 3rd place winners on the court this summer!

    When: Monday-Thursday, July 13-16, 1pm - 3pm
    Where: Rockhurst High School Main Gym

    Cost: $100, includes camp T-Shirt

    What: Participants will be taught the fundamentals of forearm passing, overhead passing, setting, serving, hitting, and the rules of playing volleyball. Participants will scrimmage each day and play competitive games to help improve their skills. The sport of men’s volleyball is growing quickly in Catholic grade schools in Missouri and Kansas. Come join Rockhurst players and coaches to help prepare your son for club volleyball, grade school volleyball, and high school volleyball. We looking forward to working with players of all skill levels.
