Hello from Rockhurst High School!  The Catholic, Jesuit, all-male, college preparatory high school of Kansas City.  We hope you enjoyed your summer and are ready for a great 8th grade year.

We are excited to welcome you to the high school admissions season.  Our hope is to provide information about Rockhurst and our application process for your current 8th grade son.

Meet the Team

Mr. Steve Redmond '04 - Director of Admissions & Marketing

Steve joins the Admissions Team, with a deep passion for marketing and education. After graduating Rockhurst High School in 2004, Steve went on to play football at the University of Missouri graduating in 2008. Steve has three daughters and his wife Kassie has spent her career in education inspiring Steve to make the switch. He is excited to breath some new life into the admissions process at Rockhurst.

Beth is entering her seventh year at Rockhurst High School as part of the Admissions Team, after spending 10 years in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph as a teacher and administrator.  Beth graduated from St. Teresa's Academy in 2002, is a 2006 graduate of DePaul University, and received her Master's in Teaching and Learning from Avila University in 2016. She looks forward to continuing to guide families through the admissions process in her new role.

  • What is the HSPT and when is it offered? 

    The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is a national test that allows us to create a baseline of our applicant pool, and helps us place students in the proper level of courses as freshmen. The HSPT will be given on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

  • Do you offer learning accommodations or other academic supports?

    We do offer a variety of accommodations, please check out this link with more detailed information.  To discuss our accommodations, please reach out to Dr. Scott Reagan, our Academic Services Coordinator. 

  • What opportunities do Rockhurst students have to interact with their female peers?

    The young men at Rockhurst participate in a wide range of activities with their female peers. Activities include, but are not limited to: arts/theater, MECA Challenge, service projects, robotics competitions, speech and debate, co-curricular activities, and dances/social setting.

  • Admission Standards?

    Our application review committee looks for applicants with strong academic performance in grades 6, 7 & 8, high achievement on standardized tests (MAP, KAP, IOWA, ERB, etc.), quality of applicant responses to application questions, and admirable conduct and effort in the classroom.

  • What is an 8th grader Shadow Visit?

    It's a day current 8th grade students to get a glimpse into what life is like as a Rockhurst student, sit in on classes, enjoy lunch, engage with students, faculty, coaches, moderators, and more.  For more information and to sign up, visit THIS LINK! 

  • Does Rockhurst offer academic scholarships?

    We do, but on a limited basis, the majority of our financial assistance is need-based.  Please scroll to the bottom of THIS LINK to see the academic scholarships available through the high achievement on the High School Placement Test (HSPT). 

  • How does Rockhurst evaluate its college preparation success? 

    Our students endure a rigorous academic environment preparing them for life after Rockhurst, where 99% of our graduates go on to a college or university, with 73% graduating in four (4) years or less.  Our students have earned a four year average 26 ACT score, we offer 21 Advanced Placement (AP) courses with a 71% pass rate (60% nation average), and ability to offer dual credit courses at Rockhurst University and the University of Missouri - Kansas City.

  • When does your application portal open?

    Our application portal will open on Tuesday September 2, 2025.

  • What is Rockhurst Tuition? Do you offer financial assistance? 

    Our tuition for 2025-2026 school year is $16,750, with a lunch fee of $1,100 and a $490 Technology Fee (includes all text books and MacBook computer). Total tuition with fees is $18,340.  Please note, yearly tuition levels are determined each spring by the Rockhurst High School Board of Directors, and are subject to change. For this school year, 41 percent of our student body was awarded $3.0 million, for an average award of $8,500 for those receiving an award, in a range from $1,000 to full tuition based on demonstrated need.  Check out THIS LINK for more information on the financial assistance process.

  • Are Rockhurst students provided faith and spirituality formation? 

    Yes, our students grow in their spiritually through yearly Theology courses, Scripture and Sacraments, retreats, and community service opportunities.  Please check out THIS LINK with more information.

  • Do you help your students in the college exploration and application process?

    You bet we do!  Our full-time college counselors help our students and families navigate the college search process.  Please follow THIS LINK for more information!

  • What kind of co-curricular activities are offered?

  • Is Rockhurst engaged in STEM education?

    Absolutely! Through the diligent work of our faculty and student body, Rockhurst was the first high school in Missouri or Kansas to receive the national AdvancEd STEM Certification and was awarded a ITEEA STEM School of Excellence.  Additionally, Rockhurst is a member of the National CAPS Network.

  • What is the Early Application Decision Deadline? And when is it? 

    By receiving all of your application documents (online application, teacher recommendation, transcripts, financial aid application (if applicable) by our Early Decision Deadline, Friday, December 15th, 2025, we will provide an application decision and financial aid award (if applicable) in February of your 8th grade year.  Applications received after our Early Decision Deadline will be reviewed on a rolling process until the class is full.
