2026 Emerging Hawklet Award

The Rockhurst High School National Alumni Association Executive Committee will honor Michael M. Krebs ’14 as the 2026 Emerging Hawklet. Krebs will accept the award during the school’s Homecoming Mass on September 15, 2026. He will also be recognized at the Alumni Reunion Celebration on September 18 and the Fr. Mario Puricelli, SJ, All Alumni Night on November 5.

 

Krebs made the most of his Rockhurst experience to help build a foundation for a life of service in the Ignatian tradition. While a Hawklet, he immersed himself in the school’s retreat program.

He served as a Kairos leader, was a Freshman Retreat Core Team member and was a Co-Chair the following year, and also volunteered as a Senior Leader on the Sophomore Retreat.

 

As a senior Krebs was the recipient of one of three Senior Class Awards. He was selected for the annual Rev. Carl G. Kloster, SJ, “Special R” Award in 2014, given to a young man who embodies the spirit and tradition of Rockhurst and consistently puts the welfare of his fellow students above his own interests. It honors a student who is distinguished by his work ethic, excellence in conduct, and outstanding devotion to the school through service to classmates. 

 

Following his senior year, Krebs continued his education at the University of Notre Dame where he earned his Bachelors in Accounting. While at Notre Dame, he served as a member of the undergraduate team that ministered as primary leaders for the series of Catholic Conferences for high school students which invites young people to explore how God calls us in our lives and how we might respond.

 

Krebs currently works as a Senior Manager for Deloitte in Audit and Assurance and has continued to undertake leadership roles outside of his professional life. He has worked with Deloitte’s Community Impact Council and led the company’s United Way giving campaign for the past three years, helping raise over $750,000 for local nonprofits. He is also active with several organizations including the Two Lines Pregnancy Clinic, Young Catholic Professionals Kansas City, and his parish, Queen of the Holy Rosary. 

 

“Michael is a graduate who not only carried the values of Rockhurst beyond graduation, but who continues to actively invest in the formation of current students while living a deeply rooted and authentic faith in his personal and professional life,” shared a Rockhurst alumnus who nominated Krebs for the Emerging Hawklet Award. “Michael represents the very best of what Rockhurst seeks to form in its students: a man grounded in faith, committed to service, and dedicated to living for others in every aspect of life.”

 

Krebs continues to help form Rockhurst students of today. He has been a staple at the 4th Day Retreat, a senior-specific retreat that builds on the Kairos experience during junior year. He has also worked with the youngest Hawklets by serving as an alumni speaker during the Freshman Retreat, imparting his wisdom about taking advantage of all that Rockhurst has to offer.  

 

For his commitment to the Catholic, Jesuit mission in all facets of his life, Krebs was selected as Rockhurst’s fourth Emerging Hawklet.
